LETTER FROM THE CHAIR

Hi All,

We recently had a great conversation with Savage Hess and Wulf James-Roby of the Coyote & Crow role-playing game. Coyote & Crow is a Nebula Award nominated sci-fi and fantasy tabletop role playing game set in a First Nations alternate future where colonization never happened. In March 2021, Coyote & Crow became one of the most successful role-playing games to ever fund on Kickstarter, raising more than $1 million dollars. This game was created and led by an all-Native team. You can watch the virtual panel on YouTube, follow Savage on Twitter and Wulf on the web. Wulf also recently joined the CAR-PGA. Welcome!

I’m also revisiting the topic of becoming a 501(c)3 organization. Given that the CAR-PGA is non-profit, it may be a path for us to consider if we plan to invite more high-profile guests. Board member Hawke Robinson offered to roll the CAR-PGA into the RPG Research 501(c)3. Paul Cardwell's archives are currently housed with RPG Research, including the RPG Museum where the Cardwell collection will be hosted.

Here’s what one of our members said: “I feel very strongly that Hawke’s work regarding research using RPGs, etc. would place our interests on parallel path … I think that rolling CAR-PGA into RPG Research would be hugely positive.”

Do you agree? Let me know at miketresca@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Boardgames in education is indeed a fascinating subject, and I hope that together we can convince more and more educators about their benefits and advantages.

Thank you again for the inspiration.
